PS4 sales surpass 30 million in the US, making up around 30% of total sales

The PlayStation 4 has reached a new sales milestone in the US.

As you may know, PS4 has already shipped 100 million units worldwide. Shipment figures are typically more generous than the actual number of units solid, since they only track retailer demand.

While the actual sell-through (to consumers) number is smaller, 100 million is nothing to scoff at. What’s more interesting than the overall health of PS4 sales, however, is how much of them were made in the US.

According to Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad, PS4 has sold more than 30 million units in the US, so around 30% of the console’s entire life-to-date sales. In his tweet, Ahmad also revealed the sales in a few other major PS4 markets.

In Japan, PS4 sold 8.3 million, followed by 7.2 million in Germany, 6.8 million in the UK, and less than 6 million in France.

This just goes to show how much PS4 – and the PlayStation brand as a whole – rely on a worldwide audience. It’s also a reminder that slumping sales in the US do not necessarily reflect that of the rest of the world.
